The Supreme Command for Allied Powers or SCAP led by General McArthur after the second World War had many impacts on Japan. Ultimately it forced the break up of certain rather feudal ownership patterns, and brought about real reform that went on to allow Japan's economy to grow for much of the subsequent post-war period.
