Pickett`s charge was the infantry assault ordered by Confederate General Lee against Union positions on July 3, 1863. It was the last day of the Battle of Gettysburg. Pickett`s charge was a part of Lee`s plan to teke Cemetary Hill, the central position of the Union forces. This attack was commanded by Major George Pickett. Lee hoped that the infantry charge would be protected by a powerful cannonade of the Union center. But this attack was a total disaster and it resulted with the Confederate casualty rate over 50%. Answer: B. Destroy Union artillery with a barrage
