Why doesn't NiC2O4 precipitate with CaC2O4?

Because the oxalate ion (C2O4-2) is common in both metals. If in one of the metals the anion was different, we could have expected a precipitate.

Why doesn't NiC2O4 precipitate with CaC2O4?

Answer: First you have to understand that precipitation is when a solid is created from a solution. In this case the reason that NiC2O4 doesn’t precipitate with CaC2O4 is that they both have (C2O4) in common.

I hope it helps, Regards.
