4 x + 10 = - 26
subtract 10 from both sides:
4 x + 10 - 10 = - 26 - 10
refine:
4 x = - 36
Divide both sides by 4 :
4 x / 4 = - 36 / 4
refine : - 36 / 4
x = - 9
hope this helps!
