Nonfiction is writing that's based on D. fact. For example, history books are nonfiction, as are essays, and encyclopedias, and many other types of literature which don't really use imagination, or rhythm, or description, but rather real information and facts that happened for real in history. This is how nonfiction writing differs from fiction writing where you'd find novels, poetry, plays, etc.
