I believe the answer is: inspiration.

The story of the Cub Pilot talks about his experience in the steamboat cub pilot in the Mississippi River. Being a steam bolt was Mark's Twain dream ever since he was a child. The inspiration theme come when Mark Twain told his training and efforts that he need to made before he finally realized his dream.
