The pattern of the flow of energy in the ecosystem take place in an unidirectional pattern. In the ecosystem, unidirectional pattern of energy flow should be present, following the law of thermodynamics which states that the amount of energy in the universe is constant. It cannot be created or destroyed, however, it may be changed into another form of energy. Example: chemical to heat. The law also says that without degradation into heat energy, non-random energies like mechanical, chemical or radiant energy cannot be changed.
