When dissolved in water, it is the acids that dissociates into electrons that contains the hydrogen ions, H+. These substances have pH of less than 7.0. This definition of an acid is the Arrhenius definition. Acids and bases may also be defined based on Lewis and Bronsted-Lowry way.
