We are given with an initial velocity of 42 feet per second and asked for the time to hit the ground again after an upward throw. time to reach maximum height is equal to v/g where g is the acceleration due to gravity. Hence t1 is equal to 1.3043 seconds. to hit the ground, the time is two times. the answer is 2.61 seconds
