The correct answer is C. Sometimes abusers don't acknowledge what they're doing because they may be intoxicated, and thus it increased the likelihood of it occurring again, regardless of how sorry they feel.

In an abusive relationship the abuse will happen again and again and again, no matter how sorry the abuser claims to be, if it's happened once it will happen again. Don't be fooled into thinking it was just an accident or the person will change, these are tactics that abusers use to make you stay. Abusive partners know what they are doing.
