Why did Beowulf go to heorot

Because he has heard what grendel has been doing, how grendel has been killing Hrothgars men

Beowulf , a youg Geatish ,is a brave and defiant warrior who goes for Heorot when he hears about its misfortune.As the place is attacked by a monster, powerful and mighty, Beowulf , attracted by the challenge of putting an end to this misery,goes there.He offers Hrothgar to kill Grendel, the beast, and the king accepts.
