A caste system is a class structure that is determined by birth. Hinduism is the religion that practices the social caste system. The caste system divides Hindus into four main categories - Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas and the Shudras. The caste system in India defines rigid hierarchical groups of Hindus based on their karma (work) and dharma (the Hindi word for religion).
