Sunil is solving the quadratic equation by completing the square. 6x2 + 24x + 5 = 0 6x2 + 24x = –5 What should Sunil do next? Isolate the variable x2. Isolate the constant. Factor 6 out of the variable terms. Subtract 24x from both sides of the equation.

The best thing Sunil can do is to factor 6 out of the variable terms. The equation will then look like this:

6(x^2+4x) = -5

Then if we like to proceed and solving the quadratic formula the next step would be dividing both sides with 6 making the equation:

(x^2+4x) = -5/6

Then we have isolated the constants from the variable. Then we proceed with completing the square and so on util we get out solution.
