A steroid is a chemical compound which is produced naturally in the human body. A steroid may be hormone and plays important role. A steroid helps in function of tissues, organs of the body. Steroids are of following types – (a) anabolic Androgenic such as testosterone, helps in development of secondary sexual features. (b) Corticosteroids such as cortisone or prednisone (glucocorticosteroids) or minerocorticosteroids such as vasopressin.
