Alabama shares the Appalachian Mountains to the north with Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, New York, Georgia, and Maryland.
Alabama also shares the gulf coasts' Coastal Plain with Florida and Mississippi.
