I assume there should be "(" sign instead of the second "=" sign. If so, then all we need to do is to check if both sides are equal:

(15 - 6) - 3 = 9 - 3 = 6
15 - (6 - 3) = 15 - 3 = 12

They are not equal so Julie's equation doesn't make sense at all.
