Assuming you mean plate tectonic boundaries, they are created by the following ways. Divergent boundaries (i.e. Mid-Atlantic Ridge) are formed when two plates move in opposite directions from each other. Convergent boundaries (i.e. Washington-Oregon coastline) is when plates collide with each other and transform plate boundaries (i.e. Alpine Fault, NZ) are formed when plates slide against each other.
