Let's go back to the basics of fractions. Numerator is on top, and denominator is on bottom. Numerator is the entire number in an improper fraction!!

Denominator is the bottom part which shows how many equal parts the numerator can be divided into!!

So, with that in mind, let's get going!!

61/5. It's improper. So, let's divide 61 by 5!!

What's that? 12 and a remainder of 1?

Not to worry.

That 1 goes as the NEW numerator!!

5 stays 5, ol' 5.

But here comes 12!!

So, the mixed number is 12 1/5!!

Hope this helps!!
