In the 1830s, Mexico's dictator was Santa Anna. To be more specific, his name was Antonio Lopez de Santa Anne, a military man. He served as the 8th president of Mexico. Throughout his regime, he dissolved the congress and centralized political powers to himself, turning his presidency into a dictatorship which many rebelled against.
