Planets orbit in the same plane but not in the same direction. The orbits of all the planets in the solar system are coplanar. This is because the planets are formed from a disk of dust that was found on the solar system plane, and so all the planets are found on the same plane. However, six of the planets orbit in the same direction with the exception of Uranus and Venus.
