What are the contributions of the Northern Renaissance?

Renaissance culture spread north from Italy to the rest of Europe. Many city states in northern Europe had wealthy merchants. The books became cheaper, because they were made out of paper instead of parchment. It was now easier for people to read, and they discussed new ideas.
