A common environmental issue for many islands is a lack of fresh water. Most islands have fresh water scarcity, an irony that occurs that even the presence of huge bodies of water, potable water can become non-existent. This is the reason why many islands attempt or perform salination, where salt is extracted from salt water which makes it into fresh water ready for consumption.
