at the school carnival caremel apples cost 1.75 max has 10 dallors and wants to buy some for his friends. what is the greatest number he can buy?

Each carmel apple cost $1.75 and he had ten dollars so were going to use division and i got 5.714... Etc and you cant but half a carmel apple so we have to round down which would be 5 apples, if we rounded up and it is 6 apples Max would but too many apples for the money he has so we must round down

$1.75 by 5 is equal to $8.75. And if you were to do by 6 it would be 50 cents over. So Max can only buy 5 caramel apples.
