Carly and rob combined their DVD collections now they have 42 DVD all together Carly had 4 more DVD then rob how many DVD did Carly have. please help me

You first have to divide 42 by 2 and you get 21. Then subtract 21-4 and you get 17. Then add the other half which is the other 21 by 4 and you get 25. 17+25=42 Rob has 17 DVD and Carly has 25 DVD.
