What is the role of the nervous system in detecting and responding to environmental changes?

Nervous system provides coordination of internal organ systems and detects and responds to environmental change. End on sensory nerves, heat sensors in skin, detect stimuli and relay messages within the CRS and then to effect organ/muscle to bring about a response.
