The answer is A. The narrator is invited to dinner in remembrance of an event that occurred some time ago in which the Time Traveler announced he created a time machine. The Time Traveler then arrives, ragged and dirty. After cleaning himself up and eating he recounts his story those who were invited including the narrator. I hope this helps!
