The movement known as the Enlightenment focused on the idea that problems could be solved using human reason. During the era of Enlightenment, the man was placed in the center of the world - no longer was religion and the church as important as it used to be. Now, humans relied on their reason and knowledge to solve their problems, and not turn to God who wasn't really there.
