The second alternative is correct (B).

Jomo Kenyatta was one of the most popular and influential fighters of African independence, having taken over the leadership of the Kenya African National Unity (Kanu) in 1961. In 1963, he became prime minister of the newly independent Kenya and in 1964 was appointed the first president of the Republic. He ruled between 1964 and 1978.

Despite the internal conflicts caused by the division of African countries without regard for local tribes, Kenyatta brought together the clans trying to harmonize the old social structures with the new social reality of decolonization. He ruled in an autocratic way, with a one-party system.
