(A) iron + hydrochloric acid --> iron chloride + hydrogen. Hydrochloric acid (HCl) separates into H+ and Cl- ions. The Cl- ions bond ionically with the iron creating a stable compound and the H+ ions pair up stablaising the H ions

(B) Hydrogen gas is given off. The test for hydrogen is that a lit splint burns with a squeaky pop when in contact with hygrogen
