The distance from a star to a planet is approximately 90,000,000 miles. If light travels at a rate of 186,000 miles per second, how long does it take light from the star to reach this planet?

You just divide, so:

90000000/186000 = 483.87 sec

It taken 483.87 sec to for light to reach from the star to the planet.

So to get this the easiest way would be to:
-put 90,000,000 over 186,000 and cancel out zeroes so you have 90,000 divided by 186 ( so it makes more sense in long division later)
-Then divide 90,000 by 186
-get 483.87 seconds
Hope this helped!
