Montesquieu's tripartite system is the process followed by federal government in United States which means that the ideas of checks and balance deals with a singular branch of government has its own special authority but can keep a check on other branches. It also implies that one particular branch have the concluding authority.

This Monetesquieu's idea is of great importance because it greatly influenced the organization of power in the United States as its government system is based on checks and balances. The purpose of checks and balances means the division of power and that each branch of the government controls and limits the power of others.
