The average of six numbers is 4. if the average of two of those numbers is 2, what is the average of the other four numbers

Let the 6 numbers be a,b,c,d,e,f

a+b+c+d+e+f ÷6 = 4 (given)

So a+b+c+d+e+f = 6×4 = 24 ------>1

a+b÷2 =2(given)

So a+b = 4 ------->2

so from equation 1 and 2

c+d+e+f= 24 - 4 = 20

So the average of 4 numbers = 20/4 = 5

The average of the other four numbers must be six because (6 + 2 ) ÷ 2 = 4
