This health belief is considered a Demonic theory of disease.
According to this theory, disease is caused by evil spirits that supposedly possess and take hostage of victims’ bodies. The cause of disease is not seen as an internal malfunctioning of bodily systems or organs; but rather, disease is caused by an external demonic spirit possessing a body.
