C; prophase is when chromosomes are visible, the nucleolus disappears, etc-- basically when the cell gets ready for division, metaphase is when the chromosomes are lined up in the middle of the cell and become attached to the spindle fibers, anaphase is when the chromosomes separate and move to opposite sides of the cell, and the cell separates in telophase.
