Why do you think it is important that citizens participate in the political process?

When citizens participate in the political process, it enables a larger voice of the people to be heard.  The purpose of any republic is to have a leader that represents the will of the people, and it is harder to find a leader that truly represents the will of the people if said people don't give their voices.
