Mr. Ignacio went diving along the coral reef in Oahu. He descended 12 meters below sea level. The distance between this point on the coral reef and the highest point on the island, Mont Ka'ala, is 1,232 meters. There is a ranger station 500 meters above his position on the coral reef. How far above sea level is the ranger station?

Answer: The ranger station is 488 meters above sea level.

Explanation:

Given : Mr. Ignacio descended 12 meters below sea level.

There is a ranger station 500 meters above his position on the coral reef.

Then, the distance of the ranger station from the sea level = (Distance between coral reef and ranger station )- (Distance between sea level and coral reef)

= 500 meters - 12 meters

= 488 meters

Hence, the ranger station is 488 meters above sea level.
