Well, to be more correct. A would be the most reasonable. Fission basically splits a large atom into two or more smaller ones, while Fusion is the fusing of two or more lighter atoms into a larger one.
Both Fission and Fusion release and gain energy. Fission reaction is highly radioactive, so that wouldn't make sense. And fusion doesn't pertain to electrons at all.
