Answer – Post-translational regulation

IN the case of insulin, mRNA is translated, but the polypeptide chain must be processed into a functional form by cleaving off a part. This processing after an mRNA molecule has been translated, to control gene expression in the cell before the polypeptide becomes active, is called post-translational regulation.
