The Whig party had four presidents and this political party was active in the United States of America during the 19th century. Eventually though their decline can be traced to the passage of the Kansas-Nebraska Act which proposed that each state has a right to vote on whether it wants to be pro or anti-slavery. The act caused a lot of confusion and led to a lot of problems.
