→ Work out the area of the middle rectangle

7.2 × 7.6 = 54.72 m²

→ Work out the area of the triangle on the left side

0.5 × 7 × 7.2 = 25.2 m²

→ Work out the area of the triangle on the right side

0.5 × 8.6 × 7.2 = 30.96 m²

→ As it asks for the shaded area, add up the triangle area

30.96 + 25.2 = 56.16 m²
