He buys 2 bags of fruit snacks. 5 bags of cookies + 3 bags of granola = 8 bags
10 bags total - 8 = 2 bags

5 bags cookies, 3 bags granola...thats already 8 bags....so if he bought 10 bags in total, then that means he bought (10 - 8) = 2 bags fruit snacks <=
