European parents have more access to social supports for their families. Due to the political nature of The United States, less social support is available for families. Social supports are available for single parents (mostly mothers), but not families, as it is assumed that at least one parent can work. This is not always the case in Europe, which adopts a socialist political philosophy in many parts.
