Nativist sentiment was arguably the strongest with potential for violence in America during the 18000's. The county was undergoing a large amount of political change coupled with socio-economic and racial change. Additionally the amount of immigrants and national subcultures that existed strongly resisted change from new groups entering the nation during that time.
