Evidence to find timelines of life is conducted through carbon dating of fossil or rocks or molecular analysis of DNA found in these organisms. A fossil of a worm, for example, named as a Vernanimalcula guizhouena was discovered and dated 600 million years ago.
Molecular fossils were also discovered due to their preservation in glaciers that existed in the "Snowball Earth" period, 700 million years ago.
