I agree with the person above - I believe the correct answer is C. because scientific discoveries gave new knowledge.
The Age of Reason brought many scientific and technological advances which helped people attain new knowledge and start thinking about the world around them differently. They were allowed to think for themselves and use reason to answer some of the questions they couldn't answer before/
