The effects of the Punic Wars on Rome's dominance in other countries over other regions gave way to establish Rome  as the most powerful nation in the Mediterranean. With the nations they conquered, like Sicily, Rome has another source of taking natural resources that greatly helped Rome from famine. They also acquired many slaves from other nations that they conquered.
