What causes ocean acidification, and what are its effects on coral reefs and other ecosystems?

Ocean acidification is caused by the decrease in pH levels. This is due to the intake of carbon dioxide. Ocean acidification makes it harder for coral to produce skeletons. The more acidic environment makes it harder for calcifying species to survive.
