If he is buying 2/5 of the 7/10, then he is only getting 14/50 = 7/25.
If he is buying 2/5 of the whole pan, then the amount that will be left is 7/10 - 2/5 = 7/10 - 4/10 = 3/10

3/10. We take 2/5 and multiply both sides by 2 and then simply subtract.
