How do symbolic interactionists believe that the social value of the elderly in america changed when the economy shifted from being based on agriculture to industry?

Over the years the business of agriculture has evolved greatly. It used to be thought of as a great asset, yet now and for a while now, it is more of a dredge and consistently needs to be rescued. This makes the agriculture business a liability. As this shift has occurred, the elderly have been looked at differently and they have even begun to view themselves in a different way.
