Meiosis is a special type of cell division that reduces the number of chromosomes by half so that the resulting daughter cells have half a complement of chromosomes. The order of meiosis is: Interphase, Prophase I, Metaphase I, Anaphase I, Telophase I, Cytokinesis, Prophase II, Metaphase II, Anaphase II, Telophase II, then cytokinesis again.
